Lake Wingra Community Bike Ride

Join us Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 2-4 pm to Bike, Run or Walk the 6.5 mile Lake Wingra Loop. More details to come.
Follow the online Story Map to learn about the history, management, science and enjoyment of the lake and surrounding watershed.
Tables will be set up along the route with experts from various organizations providing unique insight and information about the area.

Welcome commentary and group start at 2pm.
Start and Finish at Vilas Park Shelter.
You can also start and finish wherever you’d like along the route. This is an at-your-own-pace event.

Need a bike for the event?
There are three Madison BCycle stations along the Lake Wingra Loop where you can rent an e-bike for the ride—see map for locations. Stations are located at the corner of Monroe Street and Knickerbocker Street, on Mills Street near the east entrance to the UW Arboretum, and at the UW Arboretum Visitor Center.
You can also check out a free one-week BCycle pass with your Madison Public Library card. Just be sure to request your key fob in advance of the event. Click here for more information.
