Attention Nature Lovers!
Friends of Lake Wingra is pleased to announce that due to awesome demand for tickets to this movie we are offering an encore screening of the nationally recognized movie, Flight of the Butterflies in 3-D. This 40-minute, child appropriate IMAX film showcases the life cycle of the Monarch butterfly and its’ amazing journey from Canada and the Northern United States to the over-wintering grounds in Mexico. The amazing story and breathtaking imagery is sure to captivate even the youngest budding naturalists.
Monarch Butterflies are a great mascot for the Lake Wingra watershed; and by working together to protect Monarchs within our community, we can make an impact to the global well-being of this species. It is as simple as limiting the amount of chemicals applied to yards and providing milkweed along with other native plants in our yards to help butterflies and water quality.
Come and learn about Friends of Lake Wingra’s Monarch Butterfly project launched last year by board member David Thompson. David has been raising butterflies and sharing the experience with local children by delivering chrysalises to local classrooms. David hopes to expand the program this season.
