Brief overview
Friends of Lake Wingra came together in 1998 to promote a healthy Lake Wingra through an active watershed community. Our group formed in response to the designation of Lake Wingra as an “Integrated Ecosystem Management” (IEM) Project by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Friends of Lake Wingra works through partnerships, involving as many residents and visitors to the watershed as we possibly can.
In 2003, Friends of Lake Wingra continues to focus on building organizational capacity, while engaging the watershed community in a coordinated planning process that focuses on three key areas of watershed management:
- Storm water Management
- Control of invasive plants and animals
- Citizen Stewardship
